Where to Eat at Lake Conroe

Raise your glasses for a toast.

All that fishing and boating in Lake Conroe can work up quite an appetite – good thing there are plenty of great restaurants nearby.

If you’re searching for some the best restaurants after your next fishing or boating trip, here are some excellent dining venues you should check out:

Ransom’s Steakhouse and Saloon

300 CB Stewart Dr, Montgomery, TX

Step through the doors of Ransom’s Steakhouse and Saloon and you’re welcomed by “El Jefe,” the largest mounted Texas Longhorn in the planet, measuring 97 inches from tip to tip.

Quite fittingly, as the food served here is perfect for big appetites – enjoy the flavors of Texas through the restaurant’s excellent selection of meats, cheeses, and wines. Each dish is made from scratch and is cooked to perfection – try the chicken fried steak and catfish and their Texas venison chili, which are all top-notch.

Fajita Jack’s Mexican Grill and Cantina

15256 Hwy 105 West, Montgomery, TX

Fajita Jacks offers Tex-Mex cuisine consisting of a wide array of tasty dishes, including their Famous Fajitas, jalapeno cheeseburgers, and their must-try Corpus Christi shrimp.

The restaurant has a very family-friendly atmosphere, and is run by a very efficient and professional staff. The venue also features live performances, which they host in their scenic waterfront patio. They also have a bar which serves daily specials, which you can enjoy while watching some sports on their large HDTVs.

Sam’s Boat

15250 Hwy 105 West #150
Montgomery, TX

Located along the shores of Lake Conroe, Sam’s Boat offers an enticing selection of fresh Gulf Coast seafood, Tex-Mex favorites, ice cold beer, and daily specials which diners can enjoy while soaking spectacular views and fresh breezes.

Their branch in Lake Conroe is one of four locations in Texas, and one of the longest-running dining establishments in Houston. First opened in 1981, Sam’s Boat has already earned a solid reputation for providing excellent food, top-notch service, and live music performances.

McKenzie’s Barbeque and Burgers

17099 Walden Rd #200, Montgomery, TX

McKenzie’s Barbeque and Burgers is a family-run Texas-style restaurant known for their delicious meat-filled plates and sandwiches served with top-quality sides. A single bite of their delectable slow-smoked meats is enough to convince you that this may very well be one of the finest barbecue restaurants throughout the Lone Star state.

McKenzie’s first started back in 1984, when brothers Kevin and Darin McKenzie both got a job at a family-owned barbecue restaurant in a nearby town. While it wasn’t a fancy restaurant, the two brothers learned all they needed to prepare and cook great barbeque, which led them to where they are now today.

Vernon’s Kuntry Katfish

If you’re in the mood for tasty home-style cooking, Vernon’s Kuntry Katfish is an excellent choice. The family-owned and operated restaurant offers a menu filled with a wide array of Southern favorites, including classics such as chicken fried steak, a wide selection of seafood, and of course – their signature catfish.

Diners can enjoy all of their delicious menu items in a casual and comfortable environment with a very homey atmosphere. Very highly recommended.
