Top things to do in Magnolia

Food Truck in Forth Worth.

Tucked away in the southwestern corner of Montgomery County is the city of Magnolia. Named after the trees with fragrant flowers that grow in abundance in the area, Magnolia gives both visitors and residents several local attractions that reflect the community’s warmth, vibrancy, and cultural vibe.

  1. Check out the food trucks

Magnolia is famous for its food trucks, the most prominent of which is Deacon Baldy’s. This local food truck empire has an open-air bar featuring over 40 beer taps with craft beers, artisanal cocktails, and wines. Their permanent and rotational food trucks serve barbecue, a variety of salads, “spinning” pies, and good ol’ sandwiches.

Deacon Baldy’s doesn’t accept reservations; instead, they offer community seating. So in the true spirit of Magnolia unity, be ready to share your table. Community seating is actually a great way to meet new people.

  2. Enjoy the latest spa treatments

If you want the ultimate staycation, spend it at La Quinta Inn & Suites, recipient of the 2018 TripAdvisor Excellence Award. In this beautiful Spanish Mission-style hotel, you’ll find plush, pet-friendly suites with spacious beds and flat-screen TVs. Wake up to their free breakfast consisting of eggs, a selection of meats, and biscuits and gravy.

For luxurious skin and nail treatments, Haras Spa, located in Haras Hacienda, is the place to go. Treat yourself to a vitamin-infused cold facial therapy session, a body scrub, a deep tissue massage, and teeth whitening.

Haras also has a team of stylists to work wonders on your hair. Get the makeover you deserve in the hands of these beauty pros.

Elsewhere in Haras Hacienda, you’ll find several events venues for hosting private events. Host your next birthday bash at the Main Plaza, have your next family reunion in the Glass House, and celebrate your anniversary in the Mirror Room.

Horse lovers shouldn’t miss Haras Dos Cavaleiros, the Hacienda’s premier equestrian center and horse show facility. The grounds feature a massive barn with 44 stalls and at least 15 stallions in training.

  3. Shop local

Buy fruits, vegetables, free-range eggs, grass-fed meat, goat cheese, locally roasted coffee, homemade bread and pasta, and more at Sweet Magnolia Pickins. This is a farmers’ market that has been connecting local vendors and artisans with the Magnolia community since 2009.

Better yet, set up your own booth – the market is looking for vendors who sell wine, organic fertilizer, herbs, and artisanal items.

Sweet Magnolia Pickins can be found at the intersection of 1488 and 1744 during the first, third, and fifth Sunday of each month.

  4. Sample craft beers

Beer lovers should come to The Lone Pint Brewery for a taste of the Yellow Rose, one of the most iconic craft beers to come out of Texas. Other popular drinks include Gentleman’s Relish, The Jabberwocky, and Tornado Shark.

To get the full experience, come on a Sunday afternoon for a tour of the brewery. For $10 you’ll get a pint glass and three tasting tokens. You can buy snacks from the nearby food trucks and claim a spot at any of their long picnic tables.

  5. Eat BBQ

Come to D’s Farm Road BBQ for some of the best ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, chili, and brisket potatoes in town. They host special events throughout the week – don’t miss Taco Tuesdays and Sandwich Wednesdays!

  6. Attend the Texas Renaissance Festival

Come to the festival in all your Renaissance finery. Don your kilt, breeches or tunic and relive this time in history through live performances, interactive actors, and food and beverage vendors. Attendees can also bring their tents and recreational vehicles to camp for the weekend at the Fields of New Market Campground.
