Magnolia is a small but dynamic city in fast-growing Montgomery County. It got its name from the large number of magnolia trees growing in the area.
As of 2017, only 2,083 people were living in the city. However, the population has increased at a rapid rate. Since 2010, its population has grown by more than 60%. This makes the city one of the more popular places to move to in Montgomery County.
The city is also close to some of the main areas branching to Houston. These include Tomball (11 miles), The Woodlands (20 miles), and Conroe (24 miles).

Magnolia’s burst of growth can be attributed to the growing infrastructure and development in and around Magnolia. This includes the completion of FM 1488 and FM 149 Railroad Flyover Bridge and the opening of Butler’s Crossing in 2018.
Among ongoing projects is the construction of SH 249 that will provide easy connections to places like Pinehurst and Todd Mission.
Education in Magnolia, TX
K-12 students in Magnolia are served by the Magnolia Independent School District.
College-level students can attend classes at Lone Star College-Tomball in Tomball 10.5 miles away via FM 1774 and TX-249 S. They can also go to Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View only 20 miles away via FM 1488 W.
For an option closer to home, the Lone Star College System is currently set to open Lone Star College-Magnolia in the fall of 2021.

Spend the day with family and friends at Unity Park, a 30-acre park and wildlife reserve. In this park, visitors can explore numerous walking trails, get wet in their splash pad, play tennis, and more. The park is also the venue for many community events throughout the year.
Head to the Farmer’s Market on Tamina on Saturdays for interesting finds. Here, you will find more than 30 vendors selling all kinds of local products including baked goods, artworks, and garden décor.
